Choose water access that works for your Cannes group
Look beyond the platform photograph. The ladder, handholds, route back to a dry seat and space for returning swimmers determine how useful a yacht’s water access will be for your Cannes day.

Different stern arrangements create different routines
A fixed platform, a hydraulic platform and a larger beach-club area do not work in exactly the same way. Some spaces also handle a tender or other equipment, which can affect what is clear for guests at a stop. Ask to see current photographs of the offered setup, including the ladder and the steps up to the cockpit.
Explain who expects to swim and whether anyone finds climbing difficult. A platform can make the transition between yacht and sea more convenient, but it does not establish accessibility for every person or remove the need for assistance.
Give swimmers and non-swimmers a place
The stern should not become a congested meeting point for bags, drinks, towels and people waiting to use the ladder. A good plan leaves clear movement back aboard and a comfortable place for those who remain dry. Choose where towels and refreshments will be available, and discuss any equipment before the trip.
If the main meal follows swimming, leave time for guests to return and settle without rushing the crew. A broad water-facing lounge can be attractive, but seating and shade elsewhere on the yacht still matter during the rest of the day.
The stopping plan comes before the photograph
Around Cannes and the Lérins direction, the captain chooses suitable operating and stopping arrangements for the yacht, conditions and local requirements. Water access may not be appropriate at every stage of the charter. Do not build a celebration around guaranteed swimming at a precise location before those decisions are made.
Tell the operator if time in the water is the main priority so the duration and route can support it. A platform feature does not include a particular toy, specialist activity or level of supervision unless the written offer says so.
Compare a physical feature with the actual people
Use model guides such as the 90 Ocean or SX76 to understand different stern concepts, then ask for the offered vessel’s current details. Send the date, guest count, desired hours and any essential access requirement. Explain whether you prefer a quiet swim interval, simple snorkelling or a specific activity that needs separate equipment and arrangements.
The proposal should identify the yacht, crew, permitted guests, gear, operating scope and complete cost. If water access is unsuitable on the day, the wider programme should still give the group a comfortable meal and coastal experience aboard.
Charter questions
Does a hydraulic platform make boarding wheelchair-accessible?
Not by itself. Quay access, thresholds, steps and the route to facilities need individual assessment on the actual yacht.
Are water toys included with a beach-club yacht?
No. The offer must name any toys, equipment and agreed use. The physical stern arrangement is a separate feature.
