Cannes Film Festival yacht charter

A private festival occasion needs more than a yacht. Set out the berth preference, guest access and service before treating it as an event venue.

Write an event brief, not only a yacht request

State the dates, approximate guest numbers and whether the yacht will cruise or remain berthed for the occasion. A small meeting, seated dinner and reception need different space and service. Ask for the permitted guest arrangement for the specific use, rather than borrowing the yacht's cruising capacity for an event.

If guests must reach the yacht from the Palais area, make the preferred location part of the brief. The Vieux Port and Port Canto create different journeys. A yacht available on the date is not proof that the desired berth can be secured.

Separate the moving parts

Festival accreditation, invitations, venue access, security arrangements and shoreside transport are separate from the yacht charter. Catering, branding and entertainment should be approved by the operator, with setup and removal time accounted for. The crew needs clear access to work and operate the vessel.

Ask how a weather change affects an outdoor reception and whether an indoor arrangement can accommodate the group. The written proposal should show the yacht, services, cost basis and items still awaiting confirmation. Do not distribute a final boarding address or promise a berth to guests until the arrangement is confirmed.

Turn the guest list into an operating plan

An invitation list is not the same as the number of people aboard at one time. Explain whether guests arrive together or in overlapping groups, whether the yacht cruises and whether any visitors leave before departure. The operator needs to approve the actual arrangement rather than a headline attendance number.

If photographers, caterers or production staff are involved, include them in the planning conversation. Ask where equipment and deliveries can go, who authorises access and when setup must be complete. A yacht's working passages and safety equipment must remain clear even when the event is fully dressed.

Consider a fallback for an outdoor programme. An indoor salon may suit a smaller meeting but not the same standing reception planned on deck. If the event depends on a particular berth or view, identify that dependency in writing.

The proposal should show what is confirmed, what is requested and what would happen if the requested arrangement cannot be secured.

Charter questions

Is the berth included automatically?

No. A preferred berth must be confirmed separately from yacht availability, especially when the programme depends on a particular location.

Can we use the cruising capacity for a reception?

Ask for the approved number for the intended event. Cruising passengers and guests while berthed can be different arrangements.

When should guests receive the final address?

After the actual yacht and boarding arrangement are confirmed. A provisional location should not be distributed as a guaranteed event venue.
